A study by insurance giant Prudential has come to the conclusion that Dorset is the best place in the UK to enjoy a long and financially-secure retirement. Of the over-65s questioned for the report, more than 55 per cent of those in Dorset said they were in good health and 82 per cent had paid off their mortgages.
Retirees in Barking and Dagenham came bottom of the contentment charts, so maybe the county’s hospitality community should start swamping east London with package deals to give those hapless folk a taste of the Dorset good life…
